So I got my first batch of Bone Broth from Wellness Meats, and loved how good it made me feel, but at $25 a pail I decided to try to make my own..
I got a few soup bones from my local farmers’ market and roasted them up in the oven and threw them in the crock pot with onion, celery, carrots, garlic,a bay leaf, and a bunch of parsley. I covered it all with water and added some apple cider vinegar to pull out the good stuff from the bones. cooked it for 20 hours and had some for breakfast. It was pretty yummy for my first batch. I am letting it cook for another 8 hours..mostly because I need my hubby’s non arthritic hands to strain it for me π I am starting to save my chicken bones in the freezer so I can make some chicken bone broth next. I have to remember to get some chicken feet next time I am at the market.

Smoothie Sunday
Coconut milk, frozen organic strawberries (acts like ice), banana, honey, and spinach..YUM
Oh and by the way the Oster Beehive is awesome for smoothies..It is still really new, so I will see how it holds up, but it blends away everything
from greens to fruit and veggies like it is nothing..Screw you $500.00 vitamix π
Spinach and Bacon Ends
Sunday we made baby spinach cooked in bacon ends for lunch. Needless to say my hubby liked it..It had bacon in it π
We needed way more spinach though…I would say 3-4 times more spinach than we had..
Cook up the bacon until it is crunchy….then drain the excess grease..( lesson learned :))
add some garlic..then dump in the spinach and cook a few minutes until it is wilted…
Don’t put a lid on or it will make the spinach taste metallic..Splash some vinegar of your choice in and some salt and pepper (depending on your bacon ends)..mush around..and walla..NOMNOMNOM
